No network? No problem. We put a Network on Wheels.
Ericsson’s Network on Wheels, developed in partnership with Verizon, fits all the technology of a 5G network into a compact, portable package. Listen in as Ericsson’s Bill Goodman and Verizon’s Abraham Arencibia discuss how Network on Wheels was created and how it changes connectivity.
A client wanted a fast network where there wasn’t any. It had to be portable. And fit in a closet. We said, “No problem.
Ericsson and Verizon have been partners in bringing 5G to businesses and communities across the U.S. We’re accustomed to thinking outside the box to deliver high speed broadband in demanding circumstances. But one time we were asked to think inside the box. The result is the revolutionary Network on Wheels (NOW), a portable 5G network that brings the power of fast connectivity anywhere.
Abraham Arencibia, Director of Technology Development at Verizon, and Bill Goodman, Ericsson’s head of partnership with Verizon, sat down together to share the story of how NOW came to be. The joint Verizon-Ericsson team put all the functionality of a 4G and 5G network into a kit that fit into that closet while providing all the requirements of the event.
Today, this Ericsson-Verizon collaboration has gone from experiment to actual use cases in manufacturing, IoT, healthcare, retail, entertainment and news media. 38 Networks on Wheels (NOWs) are already deployed worldwide and more in development.
